so its considered fraud, internet fraud, and probably mail fraud. I'm not going to jail for anybody
No problem. Just don't want anyone else to get canned like me.
nah i believe you, thanks for telling me, it sounded to good to be true.
Yes, it is. Someone will send you pictures of a house and give you an address that is completely bogus, along with an ad describing how the rent is priced at some ridiculously low rate and all new renovations have been done to the house, and all utilities are included in the price. You copy and paste all that to an ad on CL and hope someone bites. When they do, you send them a pre-written email about how you wish you could show them the house/apt in person but can't because you're away overseas somewhere, and in the meantime you have included in the email a fake rental application asking for their info. After they write back, you send them another email saying how they have been "approved" as a tenant and that before you can Fed-Ex you a copy of the lease/rental agreement and the house keys, you have to first Western Union them the first month's rent and a month and a half security. So the victim sends the money expecting house keys and a lease to be overnighted to them 24 hours later, but instead they get nothing. But you and the "referrer" who gave you the info get a NICE fat pay day, splitting the proceeds of your "tenant." And of course you cancel your fake email account so you can no longer be contacted and nobody will be none the wiser. Assume another fake alias, bcreate another fake email, and make up some more ads. The vicious cycle continues. How do I know? It was done to me and THOUSANDS of others. Google "rental scams" if you don't believe me, and a whole bunch of stuff will pop up about CraigsList and the "legit" job you're referring to.
Its a scam? I got this from someone.
Don't you mean post those rental scam ads that NOBODY falls for?
